I am listening to:  Braveheart and Apocalypse Now sound tracks.

I finally left Colorado Springs Sunday morning.  As I got South past Trinidad the terrain became the foothills and the road became more serpentine.  A little further and I was on that fantastic road up to Angel Fire – I am really glad I decided to come back by this Memorial as well – the road is just icing on the cake.  Almost no traffic on this Sunday afternoon so I am able to enjoy the road to the fullest.

I make my way back up to the Vietnam War Memorial, there are a few folks quietly making their way around, all lost in their own thoughts.  I walk through the small but comprehensive museum and finally settle on a bench in the garden.  It is so quiet and peaceful up here, the only sounds are the wind and flags flapping.  I sit for a while and reflect on days gone by.   Then it is time to get back to the road and consider where to sleep and eat tonight.

I decide to go on down to Santa Fe since I have stayed twice at Taos and I have never been to Santa Fe.  It is another fine ride down a fine road that leads to Santa Fe.  At the hotel I get a recommendation to eat at the Ranch House nearby – it was great as was this day.  I will decide what route to take East in the morning,
